We have upgraded the City Cloud image wih the server version 1.2.4. This is very important since newer clients won’t work with the previous one (Minecraft 1.1).

So, basically if you get the following screen while connecting to the server, you will need to use a new VM or upgrade:

“So, will this automatically update my current minecraft server 1.1?”

Unfortunately no, but don’t worry, the process is simple enough. And here is how you can do it yourself. Let´s login into your Minecraft server.

login: mcadmin

If this is the first time you login, you will have to change your password. Always remember to do that the first time you create a virtual machine on City Cloud!

Once inside, we execute the following command:

/etc/init.d/minecraft update

And that’s about it! After a couple of minutes, you will have the latest server version (at the moment of writing, version 1.2.4). If the server is not running, you can start it with:

/etc/init.d/minecraft start

We will make to update the image we have from time to time, but if you get caught in between, you can always upgrade directly and continue minecrafting.
